Braces Journery #2

Dr. Alfred Cheng examined my teeth condition and advised that i can do without any extractions. However, i pointed out to him that i would like to get rid of this sensitive upper pre-molar as it has been bothering me for months. So he said " Ok, we can do that for you. But you have to extract the other 3 tooth to make it balanced". The moment i heard " 3 other tooth", i literally gave this O.O on my face. Do not know what courage got into me at that point that i agreed and proceeded with 4 extractions.

Dr. Alfred Cheng's clinic does not perform any extractions. I was referred to Dr. Wee Tze Haur from The Oral Maxillofacial Practice for extractions. The whole extraction process was a breeze except that the injections of anaesthesia  was slightly painful. I will be dued for fitting my braces on a week after extractions.

BRACES ON
Due to work commitments, I am only available for appointments on Saturday. As such, Dr. Wee was allocated instead of Dr. Alfred Cheng as advised he don't perform long consultation during weekend. The whole process of fitting told about half an hour to 45 minutes.
Dr. Wee will polish your teeth to make sure it's clean and dry in order for the adhesive cement bond to be applied. Afterwhich, each individual bracket will be applied with dental cement and cured with a light tills it hardened for each tooth. An archwire will be threaded between the brackets and affixed with elastic ligatures. Ligatures are available in a wide variety of colours and that's when you are able to choose which colours for your braces. There are so many colours to choose from that i am always spoilt for choices. All the colours are so pretty.
Towards the end, Dr. Wee will deliver a brief explanation on how you should brush and take care of your teeth during braces.

Cannot express how excited I am with braces on though it feels kind of weird with all the metal parts in your mouth. Refrain from moving your tongue ( i know most of us would did that out of curiosity) around the brackets and wire as they are relatively sharp which may cut your tongue. Dental wax will be provided and should you feel any sharp edges, you may stick them on temporary and arrange an appointment with the clinic to get them trimmed. I do experienced wires poking and ulcers during the process, guessed it's normal. You will eventually get used to it. :)

Braces Journey #1

Decided to pen down my braces journey and share my experiences to those who are contemplating to get to braces out there. Wanted to blog since day 1 of braces but work caught me up, so yea. Since now i am not part of the workforce already, it's time to revive this dead space.

I am currently on my 5th month of braces now. So far so good. Loving it.

WHY BRACES?
My uneven set of teeth has always bothered me although people have been telling me that my teeth are perfectly fine and i do not need any adjustments. But they are not. My teeth are slanted towards the right and there's this particular tooth at the top row that was slanted inwards. It's just ugly. :(
The mould of my teeth. Can see how crooked it is?

Always wanted to get braces on but have been dragging it due the horrible stories that friends have been telling me about. They mentioned that it is a very painful process, you can't enjoy eating all your favorite food anymore and the cleaning and maintenance is very troublesome. With braces on, your oral hygiene has to be good, otherwise, your teeth might decay faster than you imagine. However, i decided to just go for it! i'm glad i made this wise decision, it's really an investment to a nice smile that you will never regret.

WHY DR. ALFRED CHENG?
After making up my mind, i get down researching on forums (flowerpod, cozycot and etc) and blogs to get review and recommendations on which orthodontist to start my treatment with. Dr. Alfred Cheng came up with great reviews such as delicate service and reasonable price. I've heard steep prices on metal braces (traditional kind) ranging up till S$5000+ which was too much for me to afford as i am still a student then. Different clinics offer different pricing depending on your teeth condition, so probably, you may want do your research and call up the clinic first before going down for a consultation as some clinic charges consultation fee and will only waive off if you decided to proceed.

For my condition, Dr. Alfred Cheng recommended the metal braces as it works the best and it's cheaper. Hence, i decided on that!
Dr Alfred Cheng charges S$3,800 (before GST) - it includes retainers BUT excludes extractions.

The payment for mine was broken down as follows:-
1. 1st payment S$500 (excluding GST) - if you decided to proceed with treatment
2. 2nd payment S$1000 (excluding GST)
3. Subsequent monthly adjustments payment S$100 (exclude GST)

* The above rates are quoted to me at the point of my treatment. Prices might differ depending on individual condition. Suggest to call the clinic to enquire

Awesome Beings x Saveur

Sorry for this super late post that happened in April.
Went to Saveur for the first time with Awesome Beings for Jude's Birthday Celebration. Our clique have this sort of "tradition" that we must all get together to celebrate each other's birthday every year. Except for Jo who is studying over at Perth currently. She only join us occasionally when she is back.

Saveur serves quality yet affordable French cuisine. Being a first-timer, i think it is pretty good. The portion of food is just right and price was reasonable. Their mains ranges from about $9.90 - $39.90 (with the premium mains being the most expensive). With this price range, you get quality french cuisine which is pretty awesome.

After having our mains, we are rather full. No matter how full you are, there is still room for dessert! We shared this Salted Caramel Molten Lave cake which was yum. Thumbs up.
Oh! their menu are seasonal so probably what you had previously, might not be on the menu now.
Nevertheless, it's worth giving it a try for those who haven't.
They are currently operating 2 outlets one at Bugis (Purvis Street) & Far East Plaza. The one i went was at Bugis (Purvis Street)

Gift -

Chanced upon this beautiful video on youtube and decided to share it here. It is a Singapore drama short film by Viddsee.  After watching this short film, i teared and it pierced through my heart deeply.

"Being rich is not about how much you have, it's about how much you give" - phrase quoted from the video.
What you see may not be what it really is.
Do give back to the society and those in needs. Your little gestures might give them hope and brighten up their life.

March had been a hectic month flooded with endless assignments and projects. Up next in April will be the last exam i will be taking for my degree. Can't wait for graduation but i dread to step into the working industry. Sighs. Decisions Decisions Decisions.
Will be back to blog and probably share my everyday makeup essentials after my exams.
Have a great week ahead. Good Luck to those having exams too.

Peripera Tint

My first post after so long. Have been busy working for the past few weeks thus explains the long updates.
Went for work at IMM today. Can say it's the first time i've been to IMM after so long, the place has been revamped and consists of more shops now. It has a lot of outlet factory shops, such as Coach, Cotton On, Adidas, GAP and more.
Strolled around the mall after work before heading mall. Did anyone has the same bad habit as me that if you were to go shopping, you don't want to go home empty handed and will die die must get something that kind. Sighs. I have this stupid bad habit and makes me do that. Sometimes i can even get a packet of wet tissues just because i do not want to go home empty handed. Like seriously. But, i just can't simply control. Need to kick off this bad habit, it's making me waste money.

Chanced upon this Peripera Tint Marker at Watsons and i know i must grab it. Saw it at Plaza Singapura the other day, but it did not have the shade that i want. Some more now it's on 20% off, must grab right!  I get really excited when i saw Peripera on shelves at Watsons. Now Watsons has it, i can simply get them off the shelves, don't need to buy online anymore.

Peripera is a Korea Cosmetic brand. The lip products are more popular. I love the packaging of the product as well. If you realise, all their lip products has this picture of the pretty lady on it. I am a huge fan of them, i personally adores their Peri's tint and Peri's milk.
Recently, i am more into the shade of orange. I find that orange gives a natural shade of red after blending with your fingers and it's not so bright as compared to red.

The applicator is a marker tip which is rather special.

First lesson of the last semester is tomorrow. I can't wait for graduation. But, i also do not want to step into the industry that soon. Sighs.

Goodbye 2013

2013 is amazing. Grateful for everything that has happened in 2013. Many thanks to those who have stood by me with all your support and encouragement.
Let's start reminiscing all the good memories held in 2013.

University
After graduated from Ngee Ann Poly, i furthered by pursing a Bachelor in SIM-RMIT university. From there, i met a bunch of great classmates who made ever boring lectures lively and interesting. We studied together, we joked together, we laughed together, we stayed up late in school for projects together. You will only achieved all of these memories as a student. We will all be graduating in half a year time and will be out in the working industry with busy schedules. I will definitely missed being a student. All the best for our last semester and let's all graduate together!

Twelve Cupcakes
Started my part time job at Twelve Cupcakes. A great family that everyone is so friendly and bubbly, making every shift filled with laughters and fun.

Music Clinic
It has been always my dream to be a singer and singing has always been my passion. Although, i have yet to become one, i am glad that I have leaped out the first step in joining Music Clinic for Mandarin vocal classes. It was grateful to be able to have fun with people who shared the same passion and interests. Always look forward to lesson every week with fun and bubbly people.

Friends
People come and go in all parts of our life. I may not have loads of friends. But those I do have, I trust, respect, cherish and love them. It's the quality not the quantity that counts. I am thankful i am blessed with these angels around me. They played a great part in my life, accepted me for who i am and standby me whenever i am in need.

Awesome Beings

Lastly,

Beloved Toh
Thankful that i've found you. I am the luckiest girl on earth to have you. Can't be more grateful of what you have did for me. Showering me with loads of love, endless support and encouragement. Wouldn't know what to do without you around. Thankful for the effort that you've put in for this relationship. I know you are working hard towards your goals and our future, and i would do the same too.
Thanks for always tolerating my temper. Whenever i throw tantrums, argue and be unreasonable, you would always endure and give in. Thanks baby.
You would probably be the last man that would ever treat me like a princess, apart from my dad. Words can't describe how grateful and blessed i am.

All above sum up my happenings in 2013. Hope everyone is thankful of the happenings in 2013. For the unhappy happenings in 2013, well.. life is full of ups and downs isn't it? we have to live and learnt from it. With the unhappy/bad happenings, it will come happy/good happenings!

Hopefully, 2014 will be as great or even greater than 2013. Have a blessed and wonderful year ahead everybody!

Happy 2014 earthlings! xoxo.
